Newcastle United end their pre-season preparations with a match against the German side this weekend so who will feature?
Newcastle United have one more pre-season friendly before they kick off their Premier League campaign against Southampton on Sunday 9 August, with Steve McClaren’s side taking on Borussia Monchengladbach this weekend.
The match comes hot on the heels of Wednesday’s encounter with York City, which Newcastle lost 2-1, but the side McClaren puts out against the German club is likely to bear far more resemblance to his preferred starting XI.
From the team that took on York, new signing Aleksandar Mitrovic is likely to feature again, as the Serbian frontman searches for his first Newcastle goal, while youngster Rolando Aarons may also get another start.
Siem de Jong should get more game-time but potentially from the bench given his previous injury, while Ayoze Perez and Mehdi Abeid will be hoping to feature either from the start or as a substitute.
Newcastle completed the signing of Chancel Mbemba on Thursday but this match may come too soon for the Congo international.
