Could Aston Villa have signed yet another player this summer?
Striker Rudy Gestede has been photographed holding the Aston Villa shirt, suggesting that his move from Blackburn Rovers is all but complete.
The news has yet to be officially announced by either club but Lancashire Telegraph reporter Paul Wheelock has posted the image on his Twitter account this afternoon.
The news of a potential move broke yesterday with the Lancashire Telegraph claiming a fee had been agreed between the two clubs and that the striker was discussing terms with Tim Sherwood’s side.
Well a day later and it seems those discussions went well, with the image showing Gestede wearing a Villa kit and holding the shirt in front of him.
The Benin international had an outstanding campaign at Rovers last season, scoring 22 goals in 44 matches, and with Christian Benteke no longer at the club it seems Villa are putting their faith in Gestede to help fill the hole left by the Belgian international’s departure.
