The Benin international striker has joined the Villans from Blackburn Rovers on a contract which runs until 2020, as announced on the Premier League outfit’s official website earlier today.
Wycombe Wanderers attacker Ephraim has taken to Twitter to hail the arrival of Gestede at Villa Park.
Gestede is a good, shrewd signing for villa— Hogan Ephraim (@HoganEphraim) July 31, 2015
Good signing for Aston Villa?
Over the past few years, Gestede has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Championship and was in superb form for Blackburn last season.
During the 2014-15 campaign, the 26-year-old scored 19 goals and created 43 chances in 39 Championship appearances for Rovers
The former Cardiff City man had a pass accuracy of 61% and a shot accuracy of 39%, and won 352 headers, nine dribbles and 13 tackles.
There will be concerns whether Gestede will be able to replicate that form in the Premier League, but at the moment he should be given the benefit of the doubt.
