Southampton claimed a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Europa League opponents Vitesse on Thursday.

Graziano Pelle, Dusan Tadic and Shane Long were on target as Southampton secured themselves a huge advantage against Vitesse Arnhem in their Europa League third qualifying round match.

There were home debuts for new signings Maarten Stekelenburg, Jordy Clasie, and Cédric Soares, while fellow new-recruit Juanmi featured as a substitute.

Graziano Pelle opened the scoring with a fierce strike on 36 minutes, while Dusan Tadic’s penalty on the stroke of half-time gave the Saints room to breathe.

Substitute Shane Long then combined with new boy Juanmi to seal a comfortable victory in the club's first European game for 12 years.

Ronald Koeman's side were heavy favourites heading into the tie and they made no mistake in wrapping the tie up at the first possible opportunity.

The Saints can now look forward to a trip to Holland next Thursday, where their lead should be enough to secure them a place in the play-off round of the competition.

Here is a selection of pictures from the Saints' comprehensive European victory.
