Former Blackpool star Stephen Dobbie is set to sign a deal at Bolton Wanderers after impressing on trial, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Dobbie is currently a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace earlier this summer following a disappointing two-year spell at Selhurst Park.
Dobbie played just two games for Palace after joining the club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2013 after a successful loan spell and was loaned to Blackpool and then Fleetwood Town for the last two seasons while Palace were in the Premier League.
The Scot has been training at Bolton for the last month and he has impressed in some of the club's pre-season friendlies.
Bolton boss Neil Lennon is desperate to bolster his attacking options this summer with Emile Heskey and summer signing Gary Madine his only recognised forwards at the Macron Stadium.
Lennon feels Dobbie has done more than enough to earn a contract at Bolton and the 32-year-old is set to sign a one-year deal at the club.
The experienced Scot is something of a promotion specialist in the Championship, which the Trotters will be hoping benefits them, with the talented forward having helped Blackpool and Swansea City to the Premier League in the past and formed part of Palace’s successful push for the top-flight in 2013.
