Bilic explains what he's found difficult about West Ham's summer

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has explained it's been tricky adjusting to getting to know his squad at different times.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has been quoted by the club’s official website explaining it’s been difficult to get to know the team as a collective unit.

Bilic has admitted that it’s been a challenge in terms of settling in with his first team squad members for a variety of different reasons.

However, West Ham have gritted their teeth and fought their way through some difficult Europa League games and hopefully the closeness of the squad will continue to improve over the next few weeks.

“We didn’t have a first team or a second team, it was a mixture, some of the players had a longer summer holiday than others and, have only trained together for the first time as unit last week, and this is not ideal,” he told whufc.com.

“But, as I said, I am very optimistic, and we are going to be ready for the start of the Premier League Season.”

Important for Bilic to make adjustments quickly

It’s important that the boss continues to make adjustments quickly because the Hammers need a good start domestically and can’t afford any poor mistakes holding them back.

There are likely to be a few players in the squad that Bilic is getting to know and he’s got to work quickly with those individuals to judge whether they can play a part and whether he’s fielding his best possible team in each game.

West Ham will be competitive at the start of the season because Bilic is a very bullish manager who demands effort from all of his players, but there should still be some time for players to come forward and leave a positive impression on him.
