West Brom boss Tony Pulis reveals Liverpool have told him transfer target Rickie Lambert is 'available'

West Brom want the England international striker Rickie Lambert for next season.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has made it clear that Liverpool are willing to sell him former Southampton striker Rickie Lambert this summer, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

The Baggies have been linked with the England international striker in recent weeks and now Pulis has made it clear it is a deal he wants to get done:

“Rickie is available. Liverpool have made that known. We’d be interested.

“It’s very important that we get players who will score goals,

“Rickie’s got a great goalscoring record.

“From what I can gather from people at Liverpool his fitness levels are very very good, and he is desperate to play football.

“He didn’t play last year so it’s like bringing a brand new car out of the garage if we did sign him.

“Just putting a bit of petrol in it and letting it run.”

Lambert pulled up roots during his time at Southampton. He scored 117 goals in 235 appearances for The Saints and made his way into the England team in the process, scoring just minutes into his international debut against Scotland.

West Brom boss Pulis would certainly know how to get the best out of a player like Lambert.

The striker has the right blend of nous and strength to hold the ball up top but also play the ground football Pulis does not get the credit for at The Hawthorns.

Then there is the rumour mill churning over Saido Berahino and Brown Ideye. Berahino is being strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur whilst Ideye is reportedly top of Trabzonspor’s shortlist this season.

So a deal for Lambert would certainly be a big boost for West Brom.
