The Welsh international has been one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League since Swansea’s promotion, earning plenty of praise from pundits and onlookers alike.
His impressive displays have also attracted attention from fellow Premier League suitors, both Crystal Palace and Everton linked with making a bid for his services this summer, as per the Mirror.
However, Swansea are clear that they don’t want to see Williams depart and are taking a firm stance over his situation with reports claiming a whopping £25 million request has been issued.
“Swansea put a staggering £25million price tag on Ashley Williams in a bid to scare off Crystal Palace,” the report in the Mirror reads.
Should Crystal Palace and Everton move on to other targets?
Both Palace and Everton are in need of bolstering their defence this summer - especially the Toffees if the coveted John Stones makes a big-money switch elsewhere.
However, Williams is evidently held in high regard at Swansea and the club will not part with their skipper unless they seemingly receive an offer they simply can’t refuse.
At 30 years of age, the talented centre-back isn’t getting any fresher and a potential eight-figure bid could be spent far more wisely on an equally good, younger defender in the European market.
