Mauricio Pochettino's side suffered their first loss of pre-season against MLS All-Stars, but the ex MK Dons man was just one of a number of positives.

Tottenham fans may have had to be at their most determined to stay up to watch their club play the MLS All-Stars in Colorado on Wednesday night (or early on Thursday morning if you were in Europe), but they had plenty to say on the match on Twitter after the match finished.

The All-Star side won the high-profile game 2-1 courtesy of goals from former world class players Kaka and David Villa, a pair of players who would still do a thoroughly decent job in the Premier League, with Harry Kane supplying a superb answer at the end of the first half.

Dele Alli was one player to really catch the eye for Pochettino's side, as he played the second half and displayed plenty of instinctive attacking midfield ability. The former MK Dons man made good attacking runs and looked to be able to carry the ball forward well, and showed to those that had seen little of him that he is indeed a player of real promise.

Though there were no goals in the second period, Spurs, like they had done for periods of the first half, bossed possession, and with several players making their first public appearances in Tottenham colours, and with lots of youngsters getting game time by the time the final whistle went, there were other positives to consider despite the loss.

Below were some of the best Twitter messages relating to the match, with plenty reserving praise for Alli and the rest of Tottenham's young players:
