Photo: Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor slams Wolves Richard Stearman on Instagram as he shows off damage from tackle

The striker has been left in some discomfort after the Wolves defender's recent tackle.

At the moment it is pre-season so the football fans watch on telly or from the stands is supposed to be fairly light-hearted and relatively easy going.

That did not seem to be the case when Aston Villa took on local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in a friendly this week.

The two teams clashed at the Molineux, with a 2-2 draw the end result.

Two goals from forgotten striker Libor Kozak were not enough for Villa, as Dave Edwards and Benik Afobe goals made sure the spoils were deservedly shared.

Of course this game had an extra edge because of the proximity of both teams on show and that eventually spilled over, when Gabby Agbonlahor had to leave the field injured.

It came after a rash challenge from Wolves defender Richard Stearman and the Villa forward shared the above picture on Instagram yesterday, highlighting his annoyance at the Wolves defender for what he deemed an unnecessary challenge for a pre-season event.

Villa will of course now be hoping that the long-serving attacker can find his fitness ahead of the Premier League start next month.
