Manchester United transfer news: Pedro fee agreement close; Di Maria deal reportedly complete; John Stones interest

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Manchester United and Barcelona have more or less agreed a transfer fee for Spanish international Pedro.

What ‘more or less’ means exactly is up for debate but it seems the 28-year-old winger could be closing in on a move to Old Trafford.

While some United fans will be screaming out for a new world-class centre-back it seems their manager Louis van Gaal is focused on strengthening their attacking options for now, and in Pedro they would be signing a very talented and dangerous player.

Pedro averages nearly a goal every three games for Barcelona, with 98 goals in 318 appearances for the Catalan club.

Not bad at all, and surely the reason why United are said to have kicked off the bidding with a €25million offer for a player who will reportedly be allowed to go for between €30million and €32million plus add-ons.

In other news, Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague claims Angel Di Maria’s move from United to Paris Saint-Germain was completed on Wednesday for a fee in the region of £44.2million.

That would see United make a substantial loss on a player they only signed 12 months ago, but his departure would make room for Pedro.

And finally, the Guardian claims United have made it clear they would be interested in signing Everton centre-back John Stones.

The youngster has allegedly been the subject of two failed bids from Chelsea but it seems United are also keen, although they are yet to make a move of their own.
