The Tottenham Hotspur youngster seems to have to taken to life at the New York stadium with ease after scoring against Leicester City.
Tottenham Hotspur prospect Grant Ward scored yet another goal tonight in the early days of his loan spell at Rotherham United, surely suggesting to Millers fans that they have a young talent at their fingertips, while encouraging Spurs supporters that Ward is at the perfect club to take another step up.
The winger scored his fifth goal of pre-season, after sensational strikes against Parkgate FC and Stocksbridge Park Steels in the last few weeks, as well as a double against Alfreton Town, but the fact his effort came against Premier League opposition rather than another lower league side, as Rotherham narrowly lost to Leicester City 2-1, is hugely positive for the 20-year-old's career.
After the game, Ward took to Twitter to discuss the match.
Tough game against Leicester tonight, good to get some more minutes before the season starts and nice to get another goal! #rufc— Grant Ward (@GrantWard_) July 29, 2015
While his Spurs teammates are in Colorado preparing for their glamour match against the MLS All-Stars, players Ward will be familiar with after his year on loan with Chicago Fire in 2014, the Rotherham loanee now seems to be busy making a name for himself in English football, having also caught the eye in a 12-game loan spell at Coventry at the end of last season.
There has been plenty of talk about the other promising young Tottenham players Mauricio Pochettino has at his disposal, but if Ward can keep up anything like this kind of form into the Championship season, the Argentine may well have another homegrown talent to add to his collection.
