Erik Lamela's agent says his client is not leaving Tottenham this summer.
The agent of Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has told O Jogo in Portugal that his client will stay at White Hart Lane despit speculation surrounding his future.
The Argentine international, 23, joined Spurs from Roma back in 2013, arriving in North London as the heir apparent to Gareth Bale following the Welshman's move to Real Madrid.
Having hit 21 goals in 67 games for Roma, Lamela arrived with a huge reputation and big expectations - but he hasn't been able to fulfil them so far, offering glimpses of his quality without ever becoming the consistent force Tottenham needed after Bale's departure.
As he enters his third season at Spurs, Lamela is heading into a make-or-break campaign - but speculation is now surrounding his future, just over a week from the big kick off against Manchester United.
According to Portuguese newspaper DN Desporto, Lamela is a target for Portuguese outfit Porto, only for the player's agent to tell O Jogo that his client won't be leaving.
"There is no intention of transferring Erik" said Pablo Sabbag, whose comments may suggest that Mauricio Pochettino wants Lamela to be heavily involved this coming season.
With Andros Townsend also inconsistent, Lamela needs to grasp the opportunity to impress in the upcoming season, as he is somewhat drinking in the last chance saloon.
Another disappointing campaign could force Tottenham to sell Lamela, who needs to realise his potential at White Hart Lane sooner rather than later.
