HITC Sport understands that the Seagulls are refusing to give up in their efforts to lure a key man away from a Championship rival.

HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Brighton & Hove Albion have lodged a fresh bid for Blackburn Rovers winger Ben Marshall.

HITC Sport revealed earlier in the month that the 24-year-old had been identified as a top summer target for the Seagulls.

The Daily Mail were among those to report at the time that a £1.5 million offer had been put to Blackburn for a man who has also been drawing admiring glances from former loan employers Sheffield Wednesday.

Rovers, who continue to operate under restrictions placed upon them following Financial Fair Play breaches, had no interest in parting with a key man at that price.

Brighton are refusing to give up the chase, though, and have tested the resolve of their Championship rivals with a fresh approach.

The ball is now back in Blackburn’s court as they mull over what to do with a midfielder who made 47 appearances for them in all competitions last season, netting seven goals.
