Could Aston Villa be about to add the Blackburn Rovers front-man to their squad?
The newspaper claims the Championship side have confirmed that the 26-year-old Benin international is discussing personal terms with Tim Sherwood’s side, who have burst into action in terms of incoming transfers in recent days.
Villa have signed Jordan Ayew, Jordan Amavi, Micah Richards, Jose Angel Crespo, Idrissa Gueye, Scott Sinclair and Mark Bunn already this summer, but it seems that is not the end of Sherwood’s spending.
The Lancashire Telegraph report claims a fee has been agreed between Blackburn and Villa and with Gestede allegedly wanting a move to the top flight he may soon get his wish.
The striker scored 22 goals in 44 matches for Blackburn last season, which was easily his best campaign to date.
With 35 goals in total for Rovers he would be an interesting addition to a Villa side seeking to replace the goals of the now-departed Christian Benteke.
