Slaven Bilic says he will only sign another player this summer if they are better than what he already has at West Ham

The West Ham United boss has not ruled out making more signings this summer.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been speaking at a press conference ahead of his side’s Europa League qualifying match against AC Astra on Thursday, with some of his comments later published on the club’s official Twitter account.

The Hammers have already navigated two rounds of the competition but they still have plenty of work to do before they reach the group stages, which will make all their efforts worthwhile.

After their penalty shoot-out victory in the last round against Birkirkara it is fair to say Bilic will not want any slip-ups this week or in the return-leg, and he has made it clear that playing a large number of competitive games before the Premier League season has even kicked off will not be used as an excuse for his side in the future.

“We have to cope with the amount of games,” Bilic said. “There is no excuse, I have done my homework and know the players.”

The West Ham boss then spoke about the prospect of bringing in more new players this summer.

The club has impressed by signing the likes of Dimitri Payet, Martin Samuelsen, Angelo Ogbonna and Pedro Obiang while also welcoming Carl Jenkinson back on loan, but there may yet be more new faces before the transfer window slams shut.

“If we can find someone who can make us better we are going to do it,” the Hammers boss added. “But I am happy with my squad.”

Well he should be, and with a good start there is a strong chance West Ham are set for a very good season with the Croatian in charge.
