Report: West Brom and West Ham-linked Mario Lemina going nowhere this summer

Marseille Velodrome

The French under-21 international is a target for both West Ham and West Brom this summer.

This summer has seen West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion both heavily linked with the signing of Marseille midfielder Mario Lemina.

It was reported by French paper La Provence earlier in the week that both Premier League teams were keen on the player.

They stated that West Ham and West Brom were both preparing bids for the former Lorient player, who at 21-years-old looks like becoming an excellent talent.

The recent signings of both Lassana Diarra and Abou Diaby by Marseille has also hastened talk of a potential Premier League move for the player, leaving West Ham and West Brom seemingly on the cusp of a potential swoop.

Now however, the same publication that raised this possibility, has dashed it.

La Provence is reporting today that despite the interest of both West Ham and West Brom neither side will be getting their hands on the French under-21 international this summer.

They are reporting that despite Lemina potentially losing playing time because of the deals, he has no desire to leave the Stade Velodrome this summer – seemingly leaving West Ham and West Brom out of a chance of signing him.

Marseille are also not willing to entertain any offers for the player, who they see as a star of the future.

Both sides are in need of a new central midfielder before the season starts, an area where they are seemingly thin on the ground.

Lemina however does not look like being the man for the job.
