Despite having one bid rejected, it seems that Sheffield Wednesday may get their hands on the striker.
On Monday HITC Sport reported that Sheffield Wednesday have made a move for Nacional striker Lucas Joao, which had been unsuccessful. The 21-year-old was reportedly the subject of a bid of around £2.4 million to join the Hillsborough side, along with former teammate Marco Matias.
Joao, who scored six goals in 24 starts for the Portuguese side last term, is however now set to be on his way to Sheffield to complete a move to the club.
Portuguese source Mais Futebol is now reporting that the two teams have finally come to an agreement over a move.
The performances of the young attacker last season were in fact so impressive that he even earned an international call-up in March. Unfortunately he did not get on to the pitch to make his international debut. He also has three caps for the Portuguese under-21s, scoring three goals.
The Angolan-born attacker is known to the new Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal through his links to Portugal and would reinforce the striker position at Wednesday.
He would be the third player to join the Yorkshire club from Portuguese football this summer, following in the footsteps of Matias and Braga defender Vincent Sasso.
