HITC Sport understands that the finishing touches are being put to a season-long loan move from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 31-year-old arrived in Birmingham on Tuesday evening and is now putting the finishes touches to a season-long loan, which will see him link-up again with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood.
Adebayor found some of his best recent form under Sherwood during his short time in charge at White Hart Lane and now he has moved to organise a reunion in the Midlands following Christian Benteke's switch to Liverpool last week.
Adebayor is now moving to Villa Park for the entire 2015/16 season, with a view to signing a longer term deal if both parties are happy.
A source told HITC Sport: "The club are very happy, Tim is very happy and the player wants to make the move - this is a big boost for the club."
Villa are also set to follow up the Adebayor deal with the signing of Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout.
The 22-year-old is set for his medical at Bodymoor Heath and will be the latest French-based recruit for Villa, following on from the arrivals of Jordan Ayew, Jordan Amavi and Idrissa Gueye.
