The French newspaper claim the Gunners have wrapped up a deal for the young midfielder.

Arsenal have beaten Premier League rivals Manchester City to the signing of young French midfielder Ismael Bennacer, according to L’Equipe, as republished by talkSPORT.

The 17-year-old is an attacking midfielder who has represented his nation at age-grade level, with the Gunners reportedly impressed with his form for France under-18’s.

Bennacer made a number of first-team appearances for Ligue 2 side Arles last season but is set to join the North London club for a compensation package in the region of £150,000.

talkSPORT claim that City had been hopeful of wrapping up a deal for the teenager, but Arsenal have overtaken their rivals and won the race for the starlet’s signature.

Bennacer will join a host of other supremely talented young players in the Emirates Stadium outfit’s ranks and is expected to line up for the under-21 side rather than staking a claim for first-team inclusion.

A host of Arsenal’s other young stars such as Jeff Rene-Adelaide, Chuba Akpom and Alex Iwobi have all starred for the senior side in pre-season, indicating that the future is bright for the North London side.
