Wisdom is about to embark on a loan spell at Norwich City having spent time with Derby County and West Bromwich Albion in the last two seasons.
Wisdom has previously been on loan at Derby County and West Bromwich Albion, having been given few first-team opportunities by Brendan Rodgers. For the past two seasons it seems he has wanted him to develop his game by getting regular competitive action.
But after the signing of Joe Gomez this summer from Charlton Athletic, Wisdom's days seem a little numbered at Anfield. To put it bluntly, Gomez seems to be a better player.
While Wisdom was playing regularly for Derby County, last term at West Brom he seemed surplus to requirements as Tony Pulis repeatedly left him out during the second half of the season.
One thing that makes you think Liverpool would like to keep hold of Wisdom for the long-term was the awarding of a new contract this summer. It could, of course, be a way to keep his market value up if Liverpool want to move him on permanently in the medium term.
As it stands, there are a lot of defensive options at Liverpool, and more have joined over the past two years while Wisdom has been on the books but away from Merseyside.
Some have been impressed by what he has shown for Liverpool, his power and strength notably, but his technique remains a big question mark. The only thing that seems to indicate he will have a future at Liverpool is if he impresses at Norwich, and Liverpool's defensive struggles continue again next season.
