The ex-Arsenal midfielder has not forgotten about his former fans at the club.
The 29-year-old was a free agent after coming to the end of his Arsenal contract this summer, and such was his injury record at the Emirates Stadium that a new deal was always going to be a long-shot.
Diaby is a talented player and with better luck he would still be playing week in, week out for Arsene Wenger’s first-team, but instead he is looking to start afresh in his homeland and there will not be an Arsenal fan in the country who does not wish him well.
Diaby played 180 matches for Arsenal, scoring 19 goals and providing 16 assists in that time, but a string of injuries curtailed his career and he managed just 17 senior appearances in three seasons (including just two in the last two years).
He still has time on his side and a new start could be exactly what he needs as he attempts to put his disappointments behind him, and whatever happens he clearly has a lot of respect and love for the Gunners' supporters and he took to Twitter on Wednesday to write, “Thanks to Arsenal fans all over the world, for your best wishes and support through the years.”
