Tottenham media round-up: Soldado and Lamela attract interest from abroad, latest on Berahino pursuit

Roberto Soldado

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado is attracting the interest of Villarreal, according to a report in Marca.

They quote the team's Head Coach Marcelino, who seems keen to land a player Spurs paid Valencia around £26 million for two years ago but has failed to find the kind of form expected during his time at White Hart Lane.

Marcelino said: "It'll be difficult as he's in a great team that paid a lot of money to sign him two years ago."

The asking price in the report is 17 million Euros [around £12 million] which is thought to be beyond the Spanish club's price range.

Another player who was signed by the club two years ago who could be on the way out is Erik Lamela, with Portuguese outlet Record suggesting Porto would like the Argentine on loan.

The Daily Mail continues to report that Emmanuel Adebayor is also on the way out of White Hart Lane as he is set to join Aston Villa on a season-long loan, meaning a reunion with former boss Tim Sherwood.

The Mail reports the deal could be completed within the next 48 hours, with a view to a permanent move. The forward was linked with move to Swansea City, but according to the South Wales Evening Post, that particular link was rubbished by the Swans.

Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino but West Bromwich Albion have dismissed any notion that a bid has been made for the highly rated 21-year-old, who scored 20 goals in all competitions last season.

However, the London Evening Standard has reported they are preparing a £15 million bid, with the Baggies understood to value the player at £20 million. Spurs are also prepared to almost treble the player's wages.
