New Derby County defender Jason Shackell is confident the Rams have given themselves an edge in the small areas.

Derby County defender Jason Shackell told the club’s official website that he hopes the fine margins in terms of improvements, will make a difference for the club over the course of the season.

Shackell has been confirmed as Paul Clement’s latest new signing ahead of the fresh Championship season and he’s confident the club is heading in the right direction, as they look to go about winning promotion into the Premier League.

“The club have shown a lot of ambition - with the players they had brought in to a very good squad and the improvements to the training ground – and I am thrilled to be back,” he told dcfc.co.uk.

“The training ground has had a major upgrade and although that doesn’t assure you of anything, but hopefully those fine margins will help us.”

How the upgrade will help

Derby’s training ground being upgraded will help the squad over the next year in a number of different ways.

It will be very beneficial in terms of helping the club maintain very high standards in training, with a potentially low turnaround time in terms of common injuries to key players.

The Championship is a very competitive division and the Rams deserve praise for trying to give themselves an advantage in terms of the finer details.

Pressure will be intense

The pressure hanging over Derby is going to be very tense for the first couple of months and it’s important the club gets off to a good start.

Clement has been backed in a big way in terms of the players he’s brought in and he’s also been backed in terms of the facilities he’s got access to. There are few excuses if Derby don’t finish in at least the top six.
