Emmanuel Adebayor could finally be set to leave Tottenham after falling out of Mauricio Pochettino's favour.
Villa have already recruited Jordan Ayew in an attempt to replace Christian Benteke, with the Belgian moving to Liverpool earlier this month, and now it looks like the Spurs star, who did not travel with Mauricio Pochettino's squad to the US this week, is set to arrive as well.
Despite Adebayor having a chequered history when it comes to maintaining his performances at clubs over several seasons, as well as the manner with which he has left teams, there is no doubt in his quality as a player when he is focused on his football.
The fact Villa will be getting the player on loan, as per the Mail, without having to pay a significant transfer fee, and also in a position to renegotiate the player's stay next summer if they decide they want to sign the 31-year-old permanently, is a huge bonus considering his ability.
Tim Sherwood has already proven that he is able to get Adebayor playing at the top of his game, with the Togo international one of the best strikers in the Premier League little over a year ago when the former Blackburn captain was in charge at White Hart Lane.
With the Mail also saying that Spurs will be paying a portion of his wages during the loan as well, the striker's final year of his contract, it could be that Villa are not just getting someone with ability for a low financial commitment, but also a player who is eager to prove a point in his next move.
