Dietmar Hamann has stated on social networking site Twitter that he enjoyed his time at Newcastle United.
The former Germany international midfielder moved to Newcastle from German giants Bayern Munich in the summer of 1998.
Hamann moved on after just one season at St. James’ Park, joining Liverpool in the summer of 1999.
The 41-year-old, though, seems to have enjoyed his time at Newcastle, although he appears to wish that Kenny Dalglish was not sacked as manager so soon after his arrival.
Not at all. Had a great time in the Toon. Unfortunately Kenny, who bought me, got the bullet after two games. https://t.co/Xo2NKAurh7— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) July 25, 2015
Leaving Newcastle did not affect Hamann, though, as he went on to establish himself as one of the better midfielders in the Premier League during his time at Liverpool.
The German won the FA Cup and the League Cup twice each and the Champions League and the UEFA Cup once each with the Merseyside outfit.
Hamann left Liverpool in 2006 and subsequently played for Manchester City and Milton Keynes Dons.
