Gary Neville gives his verdict on Sergio Romero

Sergio Romero joined Premier League giants Manchester United on a free transfer earlier this week.

Gary Neville has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Sergio Romero will not be the first-choice goalkeeper at Manchester United.

The 28-year-old Argentina international joined the Red Devils earlier this week on a free transfer after leaving Italian outfit Sampdoria at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.

Former United defender Neville has now given his verdict on the former AZ star on Twitter.

Could Gary Neville be right?

As things stand at the moment, United have four ‘main’ goalkeepers in the squad.

David de Gea is the undisputed number one, Victor Valdes is his back-up, Anders Lindegaard is the third choice and now Romero has been recruited.

However, things could change between now and the start of the upcoming 2015-16 campaign.

According to The Mirror, Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in signing Spain international De Gea.

BBC Sport quoted United manager Louis van Gaal as saying earlier this month that Valdes is for sale.

If De Gea and Valdes both leave Old Trafford this summer, then Romero will become the number one between the posts for the Red Devils.
