Celtic manager Ronny Deila refused to rule out the possibility of more new signings at the club, when he spoke to the Glasgow Evening Times.
The Norwegian’s focus is firmly fixed on tomorrow’s game against Qarabag as the club aim to take a step closer to the Champions League group stage.
However, Deila hinted that he’s not completely taken his eyes away from the transfer market and improve his squad options for the coming football season.
“We are still looking – we are always looking – but this is the squad we have and right now our minds are focused on Wednesday night,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.
What work does Deila still need to do with his squad?
The squad as it is right now, is looking pretty good ahead of the Scottish Premiership returning.
The Liverpool Echo has reported that Everton are looking at a move for Virgil van Dijk and in that instance, Deila would be faced with a difficult challenge because he would need to find a direct replacement.
However, if the centre back stays then it’s a case of tweaking more than anything else rather than needing a big name in a key position.
Where could Deila still add a fresh face?
It will be interesting to see if Deila tries to bring in some attacking support considering Nadir Ciftci’s six game ban for the start of the domestic campaign.
Leigh Griffiths is more than capable of leading the frontline but if he picks up an injury, Deila may need another fresh attacking option whether that comes in the form of a loan or a short term deal.
