HITC Sport understands former Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder Danny Guthrie could be set for a move to Blackburn Rovers.
Guthrie is a free agent after being released by Reading earlier this summer upon the expiration of his contract at the Madejski Stadium
A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Guthrie since his exit from Reading, but Blackburn are in pole position to land the creative midfielder.
Guthrie has been invited to train with Blackburn and is set to be in the squad for Tuesday's friendly clash with League One Bury.
Blackburn are only able to sign free agents or make loan signings due to the transfer embargo on the club for breaking Financial Fair Play Regulations and Gary Bowyer has been scouring the free agents list to bolster his squad.
Bowyer and his coaching staff will cast an eye over Guthrie in training and a couple of friendlies and if he impresses he is likely to win a deal at Ewood Park.
