Spanish media confirm Raul Albentosa’s buy-out value following outstanding debut

Derby County loanee Raul Albentosa earned rave reviews on his debut for Malaga, leading to some fans demanding the club pay the £713k buy-out clause already.

According to Spanish newspaper El Desmarque, Raul Albentosa was outstanding on his debut for Malaga and left fans demanding the loan signing be made permanent in this transfer window.

The report states that he was Malaga’s best player in the Copa Euroamericana game against Deportivo Cali, and fans on social media have already started to demand the club meet his £713k [€1 million] buy-out clause to make his move to the Spanish club permanent.

The 26-year-old, who only joined Derby from SD Eibar in January, struggled to settle in England and it will come as little surprise to Rams fans that he has picked up from where he left off in Spain.

Does Albentosa have a future at Derby?

Although the impressive defender is still contracted to the East Midlands club, it would be a huge surprise to see him in a Derby shirt in the future.

He was brought into the club in January, when Steve McClaren’s side were flying in the Championship, to shore up the defence and get the team over the line and into the Premier League. However, if anything, he made the side weaker as he struggled with the change in culture and injuries.

Derby fans will have no ill-feelings towards the Spaniard and will happily support him should he return to the club next summer or move on.

A permanent move from the Rams does seem inevitable, especially considering Paul Clement has already signed Jason Shackell and Alex Pearce in his position.
