Report: Tottenham’s bid for Leroy Sane turned down

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly wanted to sign Leroy Sane from Schalke this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur made a bid of €12 million (£8.6m) for Schalke attacker Leroy Sane, according to Kicker.

It has also been reported by the German publication that the North London outfit’s bid was rejected by Bundesliga club.

Sane, a Germany Under-19 international who can play as a forward as well as an attacking midfielder, signed a new contract with Schalke on Saturday which will keep him at the German side until 2019.

Future prospect

Tottenham appear to consider Sane a major prospect for the future, thus the (reported) bid for the teenager.

The 19-year-old scored scored three goals and created five chances in 13 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke last season.

Sane had a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 40%, and won nine headers, 22 dribbles and 17 tackles.

While Spurs will be disappointed that they failed to recruit the youngster, they should be looking to return next summer with an improved bid.
