According to the latest reports from the Italian editorial TMW, Napoli’s request for information on Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier was denied before negotiations begun for his teammate Vlad Chiriches.
The Serie A giants are evidently looking at bolstering their central defence this summer and surprisingly pinpointed Dier as a potential target, if reports from Italy are to be believed.
Selling him would be nonsensical unless an offer too good to refuse was tabled, although the same can’t be said of his teammate Chiriches who looks all-but set to leave the club this summer.
Recent reports from Sky Sport Italia state Fiorentina are close to securing a deal of the Romanian outcast, yet with Napoli emerging as a new suitor, his future destination remains unclear.
“Napoli had requested information for Eric Dier but the Spurs do not intend to sell, so then tehy decided to focus on Vlad Chiriches who has been on the verge of arriving in Italy several times,” TMW reports.
As per the report, the figure quoted is in the region of £4.25 million, significantly more than the sum fellow Italian side Fiorentina were prepared to pay as La Viola reportedly seek an initial loan deal first.
Negotiations are said to be ongoing, but surely it’s only a matter of time before the former Steaua Bucharest star trades North London for Serie A.
Will Spurs regret selling Vlad Chiriches?
Simply put, no. The 25-year-old has struggled to adapt to the challenges of Premier League football, and new signing Kevin Wimmer is widely touted as an upgrade in terms of defensive capabilities and drive.
