Report: Charlie Austin favours Newcastle move

St James Park

QPR striker Charlie Austin has been linked with Newcastle United, West Ham United and Aston Villa.

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin wants to join Newcastle United this summer, according to The Brentwood Gazette.

According to the British newspaper, the English forward has told Newcastle officials that he wants to move to St. James’ Park.

The Brentwood Gazette claims that Austin is West Ham’s top striking target, while The Sunday People reported yesterday that Aston Villa are interested in him.

Good news for Newcastle United?

The fact that Austin favours a move to Newcastle is certainly good news for the Premier League outfit.

This means that the Magpies can now approach QPR and negotiate a transfer fee with the Championship side.

The Brentwood Gazette claims that Rangers want as much as £15 million for the services of the 26-year-old.

While it remains to be seen if Newcastle would be willing to pay that much, they can now at least make a move knowing that the player himself wants to join Steve McClaren’s side.
