Report: Aston Villa target Paul-Georges Ntep not interested in potential move

Rennes Stade-Vilaine

The Frenchman is not keen on playing for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa have already been in the French market this summer. They have snapped up Idrissa Gueye from Lille and Jordan Amavi from Nice. They are now also pushing through with a deal for Jordan Ayew of Lorient.

Now it is being reported they are also keen on the signature of Paul-Georges Ntep of Stade Rennais.

The French youngster was linked with a move to bring in the £10 million rated player, who has been linked with moves to the Premier League in the past, by the Daily Star.

However, it is now being reported that no deal will be going ahead. It is reported by Sport in France that Ntep will not be heading to England unless it is for a team in or challenging for a Champions League spot.

He is therefore not believed to be keen on a move to Villa.

Do Villa need him?

He would certainly be welcomed. The attacker, who scored nine goals in 37 appearances last season for Rennes, earned his first international cap for France in a 4-3 defeat against Belgium last month and is considered one of French football’s biggest shining lights.

However it seems that despite Villa’s current success in the French transfer market, Ntep will not be heading to Villa Park.
