According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are hoping to tie up a deal for Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the next 48 hours.
Villa saw Christian Benteke leave for Liverpool last week, and whilst manager Tim Sherwood tied up a deal for Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew earlier today, he still needs more attacking options ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Villa are moving ever closer to securing a deal for Adebayor, who would reunite with his former Spurs boss Sherwood.
The report states that Villa believe they are close to agreeing a deal with Tottenham - and they now hope to complete a medical with the 31-year-old striker in the next 48 hours, with a season-long loan deal seemingly on the verge of completion, with Villa also having the option to sign the player permanently in a year's time.
Adebayor would bring an experienced Premier League option to Sherwood's Villa, something which may be needed given that the aforementioned Ayew has yet to play in England.
As a partnership, Ayew could thrive working off Adebayor, and both players will be expected to contribute plenty of goals as they look to fill the void left by Benteke.
For Tottenham, the deal would free up wages as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to strengthen his own squad, with a forward likely to arrive in Adebayor's place to help assist star striker Harry Kane in the upcoming season.
With 41 goals in 106 games for Spurs, Adebayor has had his fair share of ups and down at White Hart Lane - but his time with Tottenham appears to be coming to an end, if reports are to be believed.
