HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Queens Park Rangers are in talks to sign Wigan Athletic defender James Perch.
QPR boss Chris Ramsey is keen to bolster his defensive options and he sees Perch's versatility in that he can play anywhere across his backline as a valuable addition to his squad.
Wigan are resigned to losing Perch in the wake of their relegation from the Championship last season and the player is thought to be keen on a move to Loftus Road.
Perch began his career at Nottingham Forest making over 200 appearances for the club before joining Newcastle in 2010.
After three years at Newcastle, Perch made the move to Wigan and he has made over 80 appearances for the Latics in his two seasons at the club.
QPR have been busy in the transfer market this summer following their relegation from the Premier League having brought in six new signings and they hope to make Perch their seventh new addition.
