John Carver was watching Sunday’s pre-season friendly game between Sheffield United and Newcastle United.

Newcastle United continued their preparations for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign with a pre-season friendly match against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Magpies took on the League One outfit away from home at Bramall Lane and played out a 2-2 draw.

It was not exactly a great performance from Newcastle, but there were a few encouraging signs from the Premier League outfit.

Among those attending the game was a certain John Carver, who was the Newcastle head coach for the second half of the 2014-15 season.

The Englishman took charge of the first team in January following the departure of Alan Pardew to Crystal Palace, and under him the Magpies struggled massively.

Until the final day of the season, Newcastle were in danger of getting relegated to the Premier League.

Carver was let go by Newcastle in June following the appointment of Steve McClaren as the first-team head coach.

It seems that the 50-year-old has not severed all ties with the Magpies, as he was caught on camera watching the pre-season friendly between Newcastle and United (see below).
