Mizuho appoints new executive director

Mizuho International, the securities and investment banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group has appointed Cameron Umetsu as Executive Director, Chief Japan Fixed Income Strategist.

Umetsu has joined Mizuho International from UBS Securities, where he served as Senior G10 Currency Strategist in New York and prior to that, Co-Head of Japan Economics in Tokyo. Before UBS, he was a Senior Economist in London at Mizuho Bank, the corporate lending and transactional banking arm of the Mizuho Financial Group. Cameron also previously served as Head of Economic Research at Nomura International in London. An economist with over 25 years’ experience working in Tokyo, London, New York and Toronto, Cameron brings a track record of providing expert macro strategy research reports on Japan.

Commenting on Umetsu’s appointment Graham Halliday, Chief Operating Officer Front Office at Mizuho International plc said: 'We are delighted to welcome back Cameron to the Mizuho family. Umetsu will be responsible for delivering sophisticated macro strategy research on Japanese monetary/fiscal policies, the JGB market, investment flows, foreign exchange developments and political issues.
