Watford midfielder Diego Fabbrini has joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.

According to Watford’s official Twitter account, Diego Fabbrini has decided to return to the Championship by joining promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka has been busy this summer in identifying the final touches to what should be another promotion-chasing squad.

Last season, the Riverside outfit came so close to a return to the Premier League, finishing just behind the automatic slots and subsequently losing 2-0 to Norwich in the play-off final.

The bookies have widely tipped them and Derby County to fight for the Championship title this season, and the duo’s summer signings reflect teams willing to go that extra yard in making it happen.

The Riverside outfit have already brought in Alex Baptise and Stewart Downing permanently, Uruguayan international striker Christian Stuani is expected to follow and Tomas Kalas has arrived on loan.

Now, following reports from Watford’s official Twitter account, the North Yorkshire outfit have also concluded a deal for the much-travelled Italian midfielder Fabbrini.

Despite being just 24, the former Empoli ace has already represented seven different clubs and spent the past season out on loan at Millwall and later Birmingham City.

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Fabbrini is a keen dribbler who is excellent in possession and likes to play through balls - a player perfectly suited to Boro’s style of play under Karanka.

Here is a selection of what both sets of supporters had to say on the deal:
