Manchester United fans give mixed reaction on Twitter after signing Sergio Romero

Manchester United have snapped up goalkeeper Sergio Romero on a free transfer.

As seen above, Manchester United have completed the signing of Argentine international goalkeeper Sergio Romero on a free transfer.

Having already signed Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay this summer, the Red Devils have completed yet another signing ahead of the new Premier League season.

Following the expiration of his contract with Sampdoria, Romero became a free agent - and now reunites with United boss Louis van Gaal having penned a three-year contract at Old Trafford.

Romero worked under Van Gaal during their time together at AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, and ironically helped knock Van Gaal's Netherlands side out of the 2014 World Cup.

Now, with the futures of David De Gea and Victor Valdes uncertain, United have moved to bring in another goalkeeper in Romero - and the 28-year-old has plenty of international experience having established himself as Argentina's first choice stopper in recent years.

However, United fans have been somewhat mixed over the signing, with many suggesting that Romero isn't good enough to play for the Red Devils - certainly not as the first choice goalkeeper.

Others believe that Romero is a great addition as a backup goalkeeper in place of Valdes, and that he can make an impact when called upon.

Here are some of the reactions from United fans on Twitter after the signing of Sergio Romero earlier today...
