Napoli have reportedly struck a deal to sign Tottenham defender Vlad Chiriches.
According to Sport Italia journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches is poised to undergo a medical with Napoli.
The Romanian international, 25, joined Tottenham from Steaua Bucharest in 2013, but much like Spurs' other signings two years ago, Chiriches has struggled.
Other arrivals such as Paulinho and Etienne Capoue have already left White Hart Lane for Guangzhou Evergrande and Watford respectively, whilst Roberto Soldado is also expected to leave this summer.
Now, Chiriches - who hasn't been able to establish himself in the Tottenham side at centre back or right back - is reportedly poised to leave White Hart Lane for a shot at Italian football.
Sport Italia's Alfredo Pedulla reports that Napoli have reached an agreement with Tottenham for the transfer of Chiriches - though it isn't clear whether the move is for £6m or €6m.
Chiriches is allegedly set to undergo a medical with Napoli in the coming days ahead of his move, with his time at Tottenham seemingly at an end.
Writing on the wall
Tottenham have snapped up three defenders this summer; centre backs Kevin Wimmer and Toby Alderweireld, as well as right back Kieran Trippier.
Unfortunately for Chiriches, those three players play in the two positions Chiriches plays in, meaning that the writing has been on the wall for the Romanian all summer.
An exit always seemed inevitable after his poor performances for Spurs, and the move to Italy gives him a chance to try and kickstart his career again.
