West Ham have announced the signing of young defender George Dobson from Arsenal, via their official website.
Dobson has been training with the Hammers since June, and took to Twitter after his deal was completed to explain why he was so keen to join the club.
In reference to Arsenal, Dobson told the Hammers' website: "I had a great ten-years with Arsenal and they helped me as a footballer and as a person. But the time is right to move and I cannot wait to get started."
The teenager signed a professional deal with Arsenal just a year ago, and made rapid progress, featuring last season for the under-21s, making nine appearances in total.
Jeorge Bird's excellent Arsenal youth blog expressed last month that it was a 'shock' that Dobson was set to leave the club.
The precise circumstances of Dobson's departure are unclear, whether he jumped or if he was pushed. His contract ran out in June, but it's not been established if he had the chance to renew with the Gunners. In either case it seems the destination of West Ham is perfectly suited for him, given his passion for the club.
