Former United defender Neville believes that Louis van Gaal’s side must sign a suitable replacement before letting the former Real Madrid star leave.
The former England international also has concerns about one of United’s summer signings Memphis Depay, but he has backed Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to be successful at Old Trafford.
@GNev2 reasonable business so far. But depends on Schweini fitness and Depay ability to last a PL season. Baby steps so far.... Need 2 more.— Ian Ladyman (@Ian_Ladyman_DM) July 27, 2015
I'm not relying on Depay. He's young and could be anything. The other 3 will be good I feel. https://t.co/DveKzWp3Ne— Gary Neville (@GNev2) July 27, 2015
Neville’s advice regarding Di Maria is indeed sound and something that United should heed.
The problem is that the Argentine is one of the best players in the world, and the Red Devils would be better off keeping him in the squad despite his struggles last season.
Perhaps Van Gaal already has a replacement in mind…
