Do not care, never interested: Director slams Tottenham flop Chiriches transfer rumours

Fiorentina's club president has issued a stinging rebuttal to claims they are close to a deal for Vlad Chiriches.

Tottenham Hotspur's attempts to offload centre back Vlad Chiriches appear far more difficult than previously thought.

FootballItalia had claimed over the weekend that Italian side Fiorentina were closing in on a loan deal for the defender, which involved paying Spurs a small fee up front.

The club's sporting director Daniele Prade has however issued a stinging rebuttal to claims of interest, making clear he does not and never has intended to buy the Romanian.

He is quoted by Tuttomercatoweb: "We have clear ideas. Chiriches we do not care, never interested."

Chiriches was signed by Spurs in 2013 but has failed to make an impact, regressing under Mauricio Pochettino.

The defender did not travel on the club's pre-season trip to the US, and is in need of a transfer to get his career back on track.

Spurs have done well this summer to offload Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Younes Kaboul and Benjamin Stambouli - but it seems they can't even give Chiriches away at present.
