Leeds United central defender Sol Bamba provided an update on his fitness when he spoke to Radio Yorkshire, as well as providing a general update on the mood in the squad.
The new Championship season is bearing down on the club and Bamba has suggested that the Leeds squad is in good shape ahead of the club’s opening game against Burnley.
It’s important that Leeds try to get off to a good start this season, with a difficult test against Everton still facing the side before the domestic action returns.
“Yeah, I’m feeling better and better, I’ve played another 90 minutes now – I think me and the rest of the lads are feeling good already. We’re going to have a big test against Everton, it’s going to be a good test to play at home to get ready for the start of the season,” he told Radio Yorkshire.
Bamba needs to stay fit
Sol Bamba is going to be a very important defender for Leeds over the course of a very long campaign and it’s important that he stays fit for the majority of the matches.
The hard work he’s doing now will give him a good base level of fitness which he can use over the rest of the season.
He’s also going to need a little bit of luck to stay clear of injury but he could potentially be named the club’s captain, which underlines how important he is in the team and the dressing room.
Team spirit and confidence
It’s encouraging that the mood in the camp is positive and that should bode well for the Burnley game.
If Leeds can go into that game with a spring in their step and a side full of belief in what Uwe Rosler is trying to achieve, they will be very difficult to beat.
