So it was a big blow for the Potters as the former Barcelona man was informed of a long-term injury midway through last term. Indeed, in January, Bojan was told he could face six months out and that's exactly what unfolded.
Even now, Stoke boss Mark Hughes is far from certain Bojan will start the Premier League season. But a huge boost it was that the 24-year-old could play 45 minutes for his side against Brentford on Saturday afternoon nevertheless.
And many delighted Stoke fans on Twitter consequently declared themselves the real winners against the Bees, despite a 2-0 defeat.
It was a disappointing on-pitch performance from the Potters, with the Championship outfit considered across the board to be the better side on the day. But Bojan's return added a huge silver lining to an off day - added to the fact this was, of course, just a pre-season friendly.
Here, then, is a selection of Stoke fans rejoicing at the Spaniard's long-awaited return to action:
@StokeLatest24 yes he needs another month getting up to peak fitness, he's getting there. well done BOJAN, THE MAGICIAN— Roger Barnett (@potters30) July 26, 2015
