Oldham Boundary Park

This is really un-bee-lievable! Surprised the fans didn't buzz off...

Football matches get delayed for various reasons: waterlogged pitches, snow everywhere etc etc. But we're not sure we've ever seen what stopped Oldham's friendly with Blackburn taking place!

The two Lancashire clubs were ready to face off at Boundary Park until a massive swarm of bees popped up enjoying the sun on one of the goalposts! That's certainly one way to stop the opposition going anywhere near your goal but I bet health and safety wouldn't have been too impressed.

Fans were kept buzzing outside while some beekeepers armed with a leaf-blower  - truly specialist kit - sorted out the little critters.

And while all this was happening, the official Oldham Twitter account was on point with some brilliant bee puns to keep everyone from feeling a bit stung from having to wait..

So where did the swarm come from? Well it turns out that Wolverhampton Wanders were bee-hind it all along, with the club tweeting: .@OfficialOAFC We sent them your way. Buzzing they finally made it. pic.twitter.com/0T9viwGHzM

There's nothing like a bit of bee banter to perk up your Sunday hangover... is there?
