Michael Carrick

Newcastle United were interested in signing Michael Carrick from Manchester United this summer, according to The Sunday People.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the Magpies made a move for the England international midfielder, but Premier League rivals United turned it down.

Italian giants Inter Milan also made an approach to sign the former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur star, according to the report, but they too had to face disappointment.

Fabricio Coloccini

The Sunday People has also claimed that Crystal Palace want to sign Fabricio Coloccini from Newcastle.

Palace manager Alan Pardew knows the 33-year-old central defender from his time as manager of the Magpies.

Charlie Austin

The Daily Star has quoted Queens Park Rangers manager Chris Ramsey as saying that the club will sell Charlie Austin only if they get in excess of £15 million.

The English forward is on the radar of Newcastle, according to the report, but Ramsey has reiterated that they are not going to let him leave on the cheap.

“We’ve been offered £12million and turned it down so we’re looking in excess of £15million – goalscoring is something you can’t coach, it’s just a habit that some people have,” Ramsey told The Daily Star.
