Moussa Sissoko sends message ahead of Newcastle's latest pre-season clash

St James Park Two

The Newcastle United player may have been linked with an exit but he is focused on their upcoming fixtures.

Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko has taken to Twitter ahead of his side’s pre-season friendly match against Sheffield United.

The Frenchman has recently been linked with a potential move away from St James’ Park, with the Telegraph reporting that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur were in a three-way battle for the player.

But Chronicle Live quickly moved to quash such claims, suggesting the player is perfectly happy where he is.

Considering his latest tweet it certainly seems he is fully focused on Newcastle and their preparations for the upcoming campaign, sending the following brief message to his followers on Sunday morning: “Game-day today versus Sheffield United at Bramall Lane to continue our pre-season work.”

Of course a brief message on social media only tells you so much and the player did not address the speculation surrounding his future. But if he really was planning on a move away from Newcastle it is unlikely he would publicly express his excitement for their next match and their imminent league campaign.

In truth Sissoko has no reason to move on, with Newcastle impressing in the summer transfer window to date and with a bright future on the horizon.

Then there is the fact that Sissoko has a contract with the Magpies until the summer of 2019, so the club can rest easy knowing they hold all the cards in this particular hand.
