The German has been in a barnstorming mood in pre-season, which is an excellent sign for the Gunners.
Arsenal’s 6-0 demolition of Lyon on Saturday was a promising sign for the North Londoners ahead of the new campaign, with an excellent team performance backed up by the introduction of some promising young stars.
However, arguably the most important facet of the victory was the spectacular showing put in by Mesut Ozil, who got on the scoresheet and looked sharp as a tack in the Gunners’ attack.
The Germany international has a stellar reputation in the world game for his past showings for his World Cup-winning country and at former clubs.
Since joining the North London outfit two years ago, Ozil has displayed fleeting glimpses of the world-class player that delighted the Real Madrid fans and made him one of the most respected creative players on the planet.
However, the physical nature of the game in England and debilitating injuries have prevented the diminutive schemer from building a head of steam at times and as such the Emirates Stadium outfit are yet to see the best of Ozil.
Arsene Wenger has been full of praise for his attacking midfielder in pre-season, with signs that the playmaker is ready to take 2015-16 by storm.
If Ozil can showcase his best form this season it would be as good as a new signing for the North London club and could well be the difference between the Gunners putting forward a consistent title challenge or not.
At times criticised in his time in England, Ozil has now acclimatised to the Premier League and seems ready to show his best form in the forthcoming campaign.
